Ondo tokenized stocks are blockchain tokens, marked with an "on" suffix such as NVDAon, that track a US stock or ETF with dividends reinvested. They are structured notes issued by Ondo Global Markets (BVI) Limited, backed by the underlying shares, and give economic exposure only: no shareholder voting rights. They are offered only to eligible non-US persons.
Ondo Finance launched the platform as Ondo Global Markets in September 2025 and now markets it as Ondo Stocks. As of 21 October 2026, Ondo's website listed more than 450 tokenized stocks and ETFs and said the platform had grown past $1 billion in total value locked. This guide explains how the tokens work, who can hold them and where the risks sit, using Ondo's own documentation (accessed 21 Oct 2026).
What are Ondo tokenized stocks?
Each Ondo token tracks one US-listed security and carries its ticker plus "on": Tesla becomes TSLAon, NVIDIA becomes NVDAon and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust becomes SPYon. Ondo calls the tokens total return trackers. Dividends paid on the underlying shares are reinvested, net of withholding tax, so over time one token can represent more than one share and its price can drift away from the share price. That drift is expected behaviour, not a pricing error.
Ondo's tokens are one design within the wider category of tokenized stocks, which are in turn a form of real-world asset tokenization.
How does Ondo Global Markets work?
- Onboarding. To buy from or sell to the issuer directly, an investor must pass Ondo's KYC and eligibility checks. Ondo's documentation says direct onboarding is currently open only to institutional participants, with retail onboarding "coming soon".
- Minting. The buyer pays in USDon, Ondo's own stablecoin, and USDC can be swapped 1:1 in the same transaction. The issuer buys the underlying security through a US-registered broker-dealer, and the tokens arrive in a single on-chain transaction. The minimum is $1.
- Pricing. There are no mint or burn fees. The quoted price can differ slightly from the price at which Ondo trades the underlying, and Ondo keeps the difference. Buyers pay their own gas.
- Redemption. Holders who pass KYC can redeem tokens for stablecoins at the then-value of the underlying assets.
- Secondary trading. The tokens can also be traded on exchanges and decentralised exchanges, where supply and demand set the price.
Minting and redemption run 24 hours a day, five days a week, from Sunday 8:00 pm to Friday 7:59 pm US Eastern time. Six assets, including NVDAon, SPYon, QQQon and GOOGLon, also mint and redeem around the clock. Because tokens can be created and redeemed quickly against a liquid stock market, arbitrage keeps token prices close to the underlying while US markets are open. Ondo warns that spreads can widen in off-hours sessions.
Do Ondo tokenized stocks give you shareholder rights?
No. An Ondo tokenized stock is legally a structured note, a debt instrument, issued by Ondo Global Markets (BVI) Limited. The amount owed to the holder rises and falls with the value of the underlying security, including dividends and other corporate actions. Holders can redeem for the then-value of the underlying assets and benefit from a first-priority security interest over them. They do not receive shareholder voting rights, information rights or any other rights from the company that issued the shares, and their names never appear on the share register.
| Feature | Share held through a broker | Ondo "on" token |
|---|---|---|
| Price exposure | Yes | Yes, through the value of the note |
| Dividends | Paid in cash | Reinvested, net of withholding tax |
| Shareholder voting | Usually available through the broker | No |
| Shareholder communications | Usually available through the broker | No |
| Legal position | Beneficial owner through the broker | Creditor of the issuer, secured on the underlying assets |
| Governing terms | Your broker's account terms | Swiss law; disputes by arbitration in Zurich |
Ondo also launched a separate product in July 2026: custodial tokenized US securities issued through its SEC-registered transfer agent, Oasis Pro TA, with proxy voting through Broadridge. That product is distinct from the "on" tokens described here and does not change their rights.
Who issues Ondo tokenized stocks, and what backs them?
The structure separates the issuer from the technology company that runs the platform:
| Role | Entity | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Issuer | Ondo Global Markets (BVI) Limited | Bankruptcy-remote special purpose vehicle with an independent director; owned 90.01% by Flux Finance Inc. (an Ondo Foundation subsidiary) and 9.99% by Ondo Finance Inc. |
| Service provider | Ondo Finance Inc. (Delaware) | Provides tokenization and administrative services; legally separate from the issuer |
| Custody | US-registered custodial broker-dealers | Hold the underlying stocks and ETFs, plus cash in transit |
| Verification and security agent | Ankura Trust Company | Verifies holdings daily and holds a first-priority security interest for tokenholders |
Ondo says the issuer must hold collateral above full backing at all times, and its documentation commits to daily holdings reports, monthly reconciliations and annual audits. The smart contracts have undergone independent security audits by Spearbit and Cyfrin. If the issuer defaults, tokenholders can direct the security agent to take the collateral, sell it and distribute the cash. Recovery is limited to that collateral: holders have no further recourse to the issuer.
Which blockchains support Ondo tokenized stocks?
Ondo tokenized stocks are issued on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana, and selected tokens can be bridged to HyperEVM and Robinhood Chain. BNB Chain support arrived in October 2025. On BNB Chain and Solana, supported wallets apply a display multiplier, so reinvested dividends show up as a growing balance rather than a rising price per token. The on-chain balance and economic exposure are the same either way. The tokens follow the ERC-20 interface, so they can sit in self-custody wallets and smart contracts, but Ondo notes that most centralised exchange accounts do not support them yet. If you are new to the network, read what BNB Chain is and how it works.
Who can buy Ondo tokenized stocks?
Only eligible non-US persons. The tokens are sold under Regulation S of the US Securities Act, so they may not be offered or sold to US persons or to anyone placing an order from the United States. Ondo's eligibility page sets two further tiers (as listed on 21 October 2026):
- Prohibited: people and entities in Afghanistan, Belarus, Canada, Cuba, Iran, Libya, Myanmar, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, the occupied regions of Ukraine (Crimea, Sevastopol, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia) and the United States.
- Professional or qualified investors only: Brazil, the European Economic Area, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland (no individuals) and the United Kingdom, each with financial thresholds set by local law.
Buying on a secondary market does not get around these rules. A buyer is deemed to represent that they are not a prohibited person, and only holders who pass the issuer's KYC can redeem. Eligibility lists change, so check Ondo's current page before buying.
What are the risks of Ondo tokenized stocks?
Issuer and structure risk
An Ondo token holder is a creditor of a BVI special purpose vehicle, not a shareholder. Overcollateralisation and the security agent reduce this risk but do not remove it, and claims are limited to the collateral.
Eligibility and redemption risk
A holder who is, or becomes, ineligible may be unable to redeem with the issuer and may have to rely on secondary markets. Ondo does not guarantee that a secondary market will exist.
Price deviation and trading pauses
Token prices can diverge from the underlying, especially in off-hours sessions when the stock market is closed. Ondo may pause trading around ex-dividend dates and some corporate actions, and it limits trade sizes around earnings announcements.
Tax drag
Dividends are reinvested after US withholding tax of 30% on dividends from US companies, which can be higher than the treaty rate some investors would get holding the shares directly. Gains may also be taxable where you live.
Smart-contract, chain and regulatory risk
Audits do not eliminate bugs, blockchains can stall, and the rules for tokenized securities are still changing in many countries.
Which Wealtii funds hold Ondo tokenized stocks?
Two of Wealtii's three funds hold Ondo tokens on BNB Smart Chain. The Wealtii Tech & Digital Asset Growth Fund targets NVIDIA (NVDAon) 17.6%, Alphabet Class A (GOOGLon) 16.3%, Invesco QQQ (QQQon) 15.4% and Apple (AAPLon) 15.3%. The Wealtii Multi-Asset Balanced Allocation Fund targets the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPYon) 19.8% and the iShares Silver Trust (SLVon) 19.6%. These are fixed target weights set by Wealtii's allocation methodology, and fund investors get economic exposure without shareholder voting rights. Because Ondo restricts these products for US persons, funds containing them may not be available in all jurisdictions, including the United States. See Wealtii's regulatory status and restrictions before investing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Ondo tokenized stocks real shares?
No. Each Ondo tokenized stock is a structured note issued by Ondo Global Markets (BVI) Limited and backed by the underlying shares, which are held with US-registered broker-dealers. Can US residents buy Ondo tokenized stocks?
No. Ondo sells its tokenized stocks under Regulation S, which excludes US persons and buy orders placed from the United States. Canada and sanctioned countries are also prohibited, and the UK, the EEA, Switzerland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Brazil are limited to professional or qualified investors.
